The last weekend of October will be a very special one for the Sydney tango scene. On Friday La Gran Milonga will open the doors of the Petersham Town Hall for the tango lovers, and on Saturday we will dance at Bexley in Halloween dress up, at Sydney Tango Milonga. Two nights of live music, dancing and surprise events that cannot be missed.
Petersham Town Hall, one of the most beautiful and oldest Art Deco buildings in Sydney will host the La Gran Milonga presented by Tango Synergy and Tango Conca. For the ones who don’t know yet, it was on this venue’s beautiful floor Paul Mercurio brought to life in 1992 Strictly Ballroom.
The art deco style town hall features a prominent hexagonal clock tower and at 8pm sharp La Gran Milonga will receive their guests. Try not to be late on Friday night!
“The Story of Petersham, published in 1948, boasted that Petersham Town Hall’s main auditorium featured a specially constructed dance floor with polished maple on the lower panels of the walls. It was also the first metropolitan town hall in Australia to install a public address system.”
All the ingredients for a delicious night are coming together: live music – Fuego Blanco and Maggie Ferguson, food, door prices, performances and a community of happy dancers in a gorgeous venue. So do not miss it!
If you drive, there is a public parking located across the road from the Petersham Town Hall and also plenty of street parking. If you choose the public transport, Petersham train station is only 5 minutes away.
Dance well!
